This is a class designed for those who are interested in acting and
drama. The class produce 3 exciting and innovative plays per year. We
try to ensure that the plays chosen reflect our students whilst
offering them great opportunities to learn and develop their talents
and skills.
Students must be able to read well and speak clearly with confidence.
They must be proactive and inspired by dramatic plays, authors,
actors, tv & film and theatre presentations.
Students are expected to be meet high standards of performance and be
fully proactive within the class.
Each student will be expected to participate in the technical sides of
performances learning about lighting, sound, prop making, costume
design, makeup design and special effects as well as
the performance skills of acting, improvisation, voice and speech,
character work, accent technique, directing and blocking, audition
processes, interview technique and dramatic performance. Students also
study RP. Students will also develop skills in audition technique,
cold reading, diction, breaking down text and scripts & etiquette.
Students will also be expected to visit local theatres for observation
and critique.
Students must display confidence, optimism and be excited about
theatre and performing arts. Students will perform in the three main
productions of the year (early spring, summer and autumn).
The company decide in association with the director which plays to
perform. The company attempt to work in repertory as much as is
possible, offerring a serious drama, thriller whilst preparing for a
comedy for the following production. The company also present a
minimalist production (black box) in between every large scale play.
The plays are presented in various forms and staged very differently
within the theatre. The company are encouraged to perform outside of
the usual restrictions of our proscenium arch theatre by presenting
the plays in varied styles.
Students may also be involved in other projects and shows running in
other classes at CTS as auditions for other performances within the
School are encouraged.
There is no currently no audition for entry to this company, however
this may change in the future.
Fees are paid either monthly or 4 weekly via standing order. Cash
payments can be made if preferred. An enrolling fee is payable at the
first day of class as well as either 4 weeks or a months worth of
advanced fees. It is in the course of the first 4 weeks that standing
orders must be correctly set up.
Entry to this class consists of a correctly filled in application form
& student contract. Parents are not permitted to stay in the class.
It is important that parents/guardians/students are pro-active in
checking the school online schedule weekly for any extra classes as
well as providing excellent communication with regards to future
absences / planned vacations etc.
Students cannot be absent from extra rehearsals two weeks prior to
performances if they wish to perform.
Good organisational and communication skills are required. Students in
attendance at The Voice Theatre Company must ensure they are
completely up to date with school/coursework in order to enjoy the
busy classes properly.
This company meet on Tuesday evenings...
7:00pm - 8:30pm
Class can also be scheduled for three hours (9.30am - 12.30pm) at
special rehearsals for auditions, interviews, assessments and when a
production is approaching and extra time is required. (please check
the student online schedule weekly).
Snacks bar will be open for 5/10 minutes in the middle of each hour
for each group.
