Each day all students arrive to the stage door where they are signed
in by a Principal Student of the School. Once class is called to
start, students make their way from the baggage area to be seated in a
brief given by the head of class or director.
Discussions include class planning, production deadlines, thoughts and
feelings about current work. Students are encouraged to ask questions,
make known any concerns, get help with problems they may be facing or
ask advice. The register is also called!
After a physical warm up by the Principal students the days class/
rehearsals can commence. If students are working on stage they may be
involved in a blocking session, vocal rehearsals, dance/choreography
combinations or working through a script. Technical and dress
rehearsals may also be going on which all students participate in!
Other activities can include set projects for assessments, costume/
wardrobe parades, prop making, scenic painting, makeup tests or a
photoshoot!
If students are working in the studio it is probable that they are marking
out new dance routines with the choreographer, producing scripts,
working on solos or duets or having auditions.
Breaks are given every two and a half hours. The school offers a snacks bar facility or they
can bring their own packed lunch (advised).
Work continues after break until hometime. Class activity depends very
much on the production in hand and it is the divers mix of productions
in a 12 month period that guarantees students are exposed to many
different styles, themes and practices. There are many different
theatre related topics covered in lecture style training which occurs
in the brief. Students are also exposed to
successful students who are
training at esteemed institutions for classes, guidance and question
and answer sessions.
When the school has no production on, students are set group projects
and class work that ensures a varied training. All of these projects
are performance based.
The box office is open for parents with enquiries 15 minutes pre and
post class time.
Students are expected to change into a simple uniform prior to class
and be present and correct as agreed in the school regulations.
